Diamond Rapaport Report (RAP)

As of Sep 2008

Tips on reading the Rapaport Diamond Report:

1) This report is only for AGS and GIA certified diamonds. Do not use this sheet for any other certification, as you would be comparing apples to oranges.

2) Deduct from this price for polish & symmetry: Percent Price difference Excellent/Very Good -6.5% Very Good/Very Good-8.3% Very Good/Good -9.8% G/G -11.6%

3) Prices for round brilliants are higher than other cuts. The prices below are for round brilliant.  Emerald cuts and heart shapes are generally the least expensive (emerald cut’s yield from rough is usually quite high). Round brilliants have the highest demand and so they turn over faster. Deduct 10-15% for an emerald cut.

4) FYI. Most Diamond dealers buy diamonds at 10-20% below these prices.  So closer you are to this sheet, the better deal you are getting.
